Job Summary
TheAccountant Intern position is in ourState College, PAoffice. Key functions of the position will be leadership, communication, intuition for business, consolidation and audit, manufacturing, construction and long-term contracts, and financial reporting. There will also be an emphasis on what we value, ethics, and safety. This individual should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.
With emphasis on the integration of financial and operational teams both in the office and the field, this position is crafted to help participants develop outstanding managerial and financial accounting tools.
Main Responsibilities
Shadowing members of the accounting department as they perform their duties
Assisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
Preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documents
Working with bookkeeping software
Handling critical or confidential information with honesty and integrity
Learning how to work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company
Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations
Knowing the importance of accounts receivable, and how they are processed
Basic understanding of the calculation of the monthly close, as well as profit/loss
Knowing what the various locations are responsible for reporting/providing to the accounting team
Basic understanding of the profit/loss statement
Knowing what job cost analysis entails and the process of generating these reports
Observing time reporting and how payroll is generated
Comparing item cost to estimations from bids- understand if we are losing or gaining money
Education
Actively working towards a degree in accounting or related field is preferred Skills
Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles
Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
Motivation and strong desire to tackle new challenges and learn as much as possible
Physical Requirements
Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) when needed
Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, use hands to move and manipulate objects, and communicate (talk and hear)
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
Exposed often to loud noise and all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel, oil, and other chemicals
Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, Overtime as required
Must follow the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
Consistent track record working safely
