The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) Fayette is looking for a highly motivated, detailed-oriented person with bookkeeping experience to join our dynamic team of professionals as an Accounting Assistant! If you are looking to start your accounting career with an exciting public service agency, the Department of Corrections wants to hear from you!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for keeping inmates' accounts up-to-date and accurate within the institution. In this role, you will also prepare forms and notifications for inmates' releases and transfers, as well as answer requests and inquiries concerning inmate accounts and resolving discrepancies. You will type memos, provide account summaries, return telephone inquires, and post entries into Gravity. Other key responsibilities include posting accounting data to ledgers, books, registers, and journals; making routine adjustments to accounts; preparing daily summary and monthly accumulative reports; taking routine trial balances and preparing routine financial reports.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per weekWork hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,003 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; orAn Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.Additional Requirements:
