Additionally, you willmaintain our general ledgers in accordance with Generally AcceptedAccounting Principles (GAAP) and perform advanced accounting functions.POSITION SUMMARY The Accountant performs advanced accounting functionssupporting the full-cycle operation of the accounting department.Assists management with ensuring overall accuracy and integrity offinancial data. The Accountant is responsible for maintaining thegeneral ledger in accordance with Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples (GAAP). The Accountant will also assist with theimplementation of new procedures and software. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral Responsibilities Assists Accounting Specialists investigate andcorrect any out-of-balance conditions on daily subledger proofs anddevelops processes and procedures to expedite research and resolution.Performs the necessary functions to perform reconcilement to assignedgeneral ledger accounts by conducting analysis, investigating variances,and recording adjustments as needed. Prepares documentation for externalaudits and regulatory exams. Administer the fixed asset module withinthe general ledger software including subledger additions, disposals,and recording monthly depreciation expense. Administer theprepaid/accrued expense module within the general ledger softwareincluding subledger additions and processing monthly activity. Gatherdata and prepare ad hoc reports to assist other Credit Union departmentsin analyzing financial performance. Stays current on accounting rulesand regulations. Complies with all company policies and procedures,applicable laws, and regulations. Additional duties as assigned.Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor\'s degree in accountingor finance; or 2 years\' experience financial industry experience andpursuing a bachelor\'s degree in accounting or finance.
