  POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

SEO Scholars High School Program Managers are essential to the continued success of our Scholars Program. As a Program Manager you will be responsible for the advisement and performance of a cohort of 80-90 high school sophomores. Through group facilitation, workshops, community circles, class observations, and 1-on-1 advising, you will help Scholars develop holistically. Beyond ensuring a rigorous academic environment, you will be tasked with effectively building the academic and socio-emotional foundation to successfully navigate high school, college, and career, including but not limited to our Scholars’ academic mindsets, effective study habits, awareness of identity, and SEL skills.

Lead and implement SEO Scholars programming on Saturdays, after school, and during the summer. Create and nurture an inclusive environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and college readiness. Provide academic advising to all Scholars in their assigned cohort through academic advising hours, conduct meetings for students and parents, and meet with Scholars 1:1 or in small groups. Monitor the performance and engagement of all Scholars in assigned cohort; track and analyze Scholar attendance, assignment completion, assessments and grades in SEO Scholars classes, high school courses, community college courses, and standardized test scores. Leverage data to develop advising strategies that provide socio-emotional guidance, advising, and support to ensure Scholars’ successful completion of the program. Facilitate instructor check-in meetings to gather information about Scholar performance and advise on action plans to support Scholars. Collaborate with 9th and 11th grade staff to transition Scholars into and from the 10th grade each summer. Foster and maintain relationships with parents, school partners, volunteers, and corporate partners. Assist with the planning, coordination, and supervision of occasional trips (e.g. college tours). Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required. Direct experience working with high school-age students. 2+ years’ public teaching experience strongly preferred. Experience in student coaching and advising, including interfacing with parents and families. Evidence of progressive career growth within roles increasing in responsibility and autonomy. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated passion for closing the opportunity and academic achievement gap at the high school and college level for first-generation and historically marginalized student populations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to clearly and effectively present content in a public forum, engage in active listening, and command the attention of large groups of students. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be practiced building professional relationships and delivering constructive, honest and productive feedback to Scholars and family members. Intermediate to advanced Excel and reporting skills with an affinity towards data-driven outcomes. A proven background working with families and within communities reflective of SEO’s scholar population with the combined lived and learned experience to effectively apply a genuinely empathic, race intentional, and inclusive lens to both relationships and work product.  Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred; other languages skills are welcome.
