Diagnoses and treats diseases of swine byperforming the following duties.
SALARY RANGE: $94,000 to $138,050Core Responsibilities
Using CQI/SPC methods, monitors key indicators and formulate interventionstrategies to improve system health.
Examines animals to determine nature of disease or injury.
Treats animal surgically or medically.
Test animals for herd health monitoring.
Inoculates animals against diseases and other disorders. Ensures that animalsmeet all federal, state, and local health and welfare regulations.
Advises/teaches managers/employees about sanitary measures, feeding,and general care to promote health of animals.
Promotes teamwork with all production segments to focus on system mission. -Oversees and provides guidance for animal health regulatory issues associatedwith production and movement of swine.
Evaluates new technologies/products as they impact production and animalhealth.
Establishes and maintains relationships for Smithfield Hog Production withacademics, animal health organizations and political/health organizations
Be committed to the judicious use of antimicrobials.
Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental & animal welfarelaws and procedures to which Smithfield Hog Production subscribes.
Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with companySIPS, EMS and BMS policies and procedures while performing their job duties.
Read and understand the company's emergency notification process and will beresponsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited school, required.
2+ years experience in veterinary medicine and swine health preferable inlarge systems, required.
Eligible to practice veterinary medicine in states where farms are locatedwithin 6 months of hire.
Current and valid driver's license with acceptable MVR.
Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Access, Internet is preferred.
Must be available for occasional travel.
Must be available to work nights and weekends when necessary. Weekend,evening, and holiday work required as needed.
Previous livestock handling helpful.
Strong Commitment to teamwork.
Willingness to shower daily in and out of farms.
Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
