The primary purpose of the position:
The successful candidate for this position must possess a strong aptitude for research, specifically in navigating and comprehending grant application guidelines and other technical documents. Critical thinking skills are crucial for extracting important details from these documents, and the ability to make informed judgment calls is essential. The candidate should demonstrate adept time management and meticulous attention to detail.
Being a team player is paramount, as the role involves mutual support among team members. This is particularly crucial in a remote work setting, where collaboration and the ability to back each other up become even more significant. The candidate will primarily collaborate with faculty members, necessitating motivation to follow up with them and manage their workload independently without direct oversight.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are indispensable. The role involves engaging in Zoom calls, extensive emailing, and conveying intricate details accurately. Basic math and technology skills, including proficiency in Excel, are required. The candidate should be capable of performing fundamental tasks in Excel, such as working with templated budget spreadsheets and handling long formulas for calculations. While pivot tables and excessive Excel functionalities are not expected, a solid understanding of basic Excel operations is essential.
In addition to technical skills, the right attitude is crucial. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, willing to learn and demonstrate excellent communication and listening abilities. The role may involve dealing with templated budget spreadsheets and complex formulas, emphasizing the need for a detail-oriented individual with a proactive and positive approach to their work.
