Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Previous experience with Federal TRIO Programs, (e.g., Upward Bound 1 & 2 & Talent Search,).Position Description - Job SummaryNOTE: This position at the University of Louisville (UofL) with TRIO Upward Bound and TRIO Talent Search is a summer position only with an estimated start date in late May. Review of applicants will only occur once per year and typically starts in February and continues through late March. The schedule for this Part- time position is Monday-Friday; hours will vary. Applications will be taken into consideration for 1 of 3 programs; UofL TRIO Upward Bound 1, UofL TRIO Upward Bound 2, and UofL TRIO Talent Search 1. These positions report directly to the Program Director.Essential Duties & Requirements:The ACADEMIC Instructor will develop and implement content-area curriculum for high school students who are participant in a six-week educational program at UofL during the summer and serve as a role model for participants. Classes are Monday - Friday, tentatively June 3, 2024 - July 12, 2024. The salary range is commensurate depending on qualifications. Primary Objective: Prepare students in subject area they may expect to encounter during the upcoming academic year with a focus on learning study skills that will help students succeed in these classes. Secondary Objective: Motivate students toward college and assist in building their self-esteem and sense of achievement. Open for the following Subject Areas: 2 - Foreign Language Instructors 2 - English Instructors 2 - Math Instructors 2 - Science Instructors 2- Writing Instructors 2 - Engineering, Astronomy, Study Skills, Civic, etc.The Academic Instructor will develop and implement content-area curriculum/lessons plans. Execute the plans by teaching them to the participants while working independently or with a team. Assess students’ cognitive needs, develop a curriculum to address those needs, and aid residence hall staff in meeting participants’ cognitive needs.The Academic Instructor will develop a thorough understanding of the project’s overall goals and assist with a challenging program of study that will promote success and generate confidence within each student.The Academic Instructor will become familiar with and closely follow program instructor policies, procedures, and use professional ethics. Identify and assist in providing resources needed to implement curriculum.The Academic Instructor will complete weekly progress reports and final grade reports for each student. Maintain accurate participant attendance records. Attend all training sessions and staff meetings.The Academic Instructor will provide or arrange for curriculum materials such as textbooks, readers, or instructional aides to be available to student participants. Prepare and submit daily homework and/or missing assignments to the TRIO Upward Bound/TRIO Talent Search Program Director.The Academic Instructor will perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.ADDITIONAL ACADEMIC INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATE INSTRUCTIONSA completed application will include the completed on-line application, a resume, a cover letter addressing how you meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position, and a list of 3 academic or professional references.
