Job Description Summary
As a Staff Project Engineer you will be part of a growing engineering team focused on managing projects and leading cross-functional teams to complete critical cost-improvement projects across all departments in the plant. Projects to be assigned include product design changes, raw material changes and process changes including implementation of new manufacturing technologies. The project engineering team is primarily responsible for sustaining engineering efforts across the plant and play a key role in OEE improvement. As a team member you will ensure compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety
regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs project planning, justification, specification development, and budgeting.
Handles vendor interactions, equipment specifications/design, concepts, and vendor negotiations.
Oversees machine purchase and installations, as well as the building of whole machines or processes.
Provides significant leadership for process and machine design of new product/process developments.
Identifies and implements significant continuous improvement projects.
Provides lead in creativity around solving problems.
Generally able to identify solutions to problems encountered without assistance and develops and secures resource planning.
Develops and implements new technologies.
Works with all Manufacturing areas within the Plant regarding process and machine designs.
Works with Plant process engineers, management, vendors, consultants, and interfaces with other BD Plants, platform teams, and sales & marketing on development, design, and fabrication of equipment or processes for new products and technologies.
Generates and submits new project ideas.
Act as technical specialists advising how methods and concepts should be applied to their area and expanded to organization-wide problems and developments.
Plan and execute activities for multiple major or complicated projects, processes, and equipment.
Receive limited guidance to achieve broad objectives
Represent the organization about their area of expertise, including leading presentations.
Develop and oversee budgets, as well as write proposals for major or complicated projects.
Advise and negotiate in terms of critical issues.
Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Minimum Education and Experience:
BS degree required – Science, Industrial management, Engineering or related field
Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience required w/ BS; 2 years w/ MS.
