Job Overview: Responsible for the diagnostics, prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of more complex material handling equipment issues. Equipment Maintenance Mechanic Sr. will be required to act as a leader on the team, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to fellow team members.Schedule: Monday - Friday (Overtime as needed)Essential Functions:Provides diagnostics and recommendations to repair or replace poorly functioning equipmentEfficiently prioritizes repair schedule to ensure an uninterrupted production scheduleEnsure an adequate inventory of necessary spare parts and materials is maintainedKeep management informed of areas activities and of significant concerns. Report major concerns or significant problemsProvides leadership, guidance, and training to other Equipment Maintenance Mechanics Manages installation of RF unit and scan gunsAssist in developing a preventive maintenance scheduleHandles more complex diagnostics and repairs including but not limited to the following: electrical systems, hydraulic and brake systemsPerform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for locationPerforms other relevant job duties as requiredJob Requirements:Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experienceCertified Material Handling Engineer MechanicASE Certification (Automotive Service Excellence) - preferredExperience:5+ years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipmentMachining and fabrication experienceKnowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics, and the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematicsOral and written communication skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. It is also required for writing routine reports and correspondenceAbility to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsClearly communicate with other employees and build relationships with employees, supervisors/managers, customers, as well as outside contractorsAbility to work well independentlyWork Environment/Physical Demands:Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequentlyExposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery OperationAbility to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service proceduresMust be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipmentRequires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
