DescriptionThe Senior Safety Specialist is responsible for executing safety initiatives by focusing on training across Lewis to enhance the safety culture. Additionally, the role will identify, evaluate, and control risks necessary to drive Safety performance and operating efficiency. The Senior Safety Specialist will work with the Training Manager, the Human Performance Advisor and Operations to educate and drive Human Performance and Safety compliance. This will be accomplished by developing and delivering various levels of training, visiting job sites, observing work, communicating best practices and demonstrating safety leadership as aligned with Lewis's Values and Operating Principles.This is a remote position that requires travel up to 50% including overnights by ground, rail, or air transportation.What you'll do at Lewis:Bring expert tree care knowledge and experience to assist in the design, writing, and implementation of utility line clearance skills training (i.e. chainsaw use, rigging, climbing, equipment operation, etc.)Bring expertise of industry regulations (OSHA, ANSI) to support organizational safety and training compliance.Adapt safety and Human Performance tools, perform field tests, and incorporate feedback from workers to ensure that safety strategies are effective in the field.Engage with workers, safety team, and operations leaders to uncover gaps between work as imagined (work plans, policies, procedures) and work as performed.Develop and lead Safety and Human Performance training to all levels of the organization.Produce innovative learning mechanisms that connect with front line workers.Author training related communications to be dispersed across the organizationCoordinate and lead projects and Learning Teams to advance Lewis Services Safety.Perform other related duties as assigned by Safety Director or Training ManagerQUALIFICATIONS:Associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experienceMinimum 3 years line clearance, residential tree work, or related field experienceObtain and maintain Certified Tree Care Safety Professional credentialOSHA 30 hourValid driver's licenseProficient in Microsoft OfficeExperience in a safety leadership role a plusISA Certified Arborist credential a plusWE NEED PEOPLE WHO:are responsible, trustworthy, honest, and act with integrity.are curious, creative, and willing to learn.diligently adhere to strict deadlines.work conscientiously with little oversight.enjoy teamwork and actively contribute.develop positive relationships, gain trust and respect for the company.are willing to travel for storm work, incident response and other types of support on short notice.COMPETENT IN THESE AREAS:Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.Computer, smart phone, and Microsoft products.Bilingual in English/Spanish preferredWhy you'll love being part of the Lewis Family:We are empowered to share our talents.
