The Thermo Fisher Scientific St. Louis site is a multi-product and multi-client bio-pharmaceutical site with manufacturing facilities for pharmaceutical products for both (pre)clinical trials and commercial applications.
The Senior Project Engineer is experienced in their field of expertise and is regarded as such within the wider Thermo Fisher Scientific Biologics network. They will fulfill several critical roles; capital project scope, schedule and budget management, coordination and collaboration with Quality, Facilities, Warehouse, Regulatory, Site Management and Finance departments, perform technical studies, managing external contractors and trades.
A Day in the Life.
Project management including: invoicing, financial management, contractor management, capital requests, and documentation in a regulated environment.Develops project scope, schedule, and cost estimate into capital appropriation request (CAR).Plans, conducts, and supervises design and construction of major projects for the site. Ensures that projects are executed with applicable engineering standards while maintaining scope, schedule, and budget.Assess, implement, and revise engineering standards as needed.Coordinates activities and documentation requirements associated with project execution such as; shutdown management, validation requirements, start-up activities, management of change documentation.Assists in development of long-range plans for site capital spending with focus on continuous improvement and cost-savings.Understands and provides input on bio-process equipment design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and validation.Provide feedback on new building design, GMP clean-room design, automation infrastructure design, clean utility design and general site related projects.Supports the generation of structured work-plans.Works closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Validation, Facilities and Site Management to implement projects without impeding production.Tracks project spending, provide monthly forecasts and closes projects in a timely manner.Works with procurement to develop equipment vendor relationships and assist in bid evaluation to ensure the best pricing on new equipment.Other duties as assigned, with or without accommodation.
How will you get here?
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Bio) or equivalent training and related degree.Bachelors with 8+ years experience, or, Masters with 6+ years experience. Industry related.3+ years experience preferred in the bio / pharmaceutical or a GMP regulated industry.Experience managing multiple capital projects simultaneously.Management of capital projects greater than $1 million in spend.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Project management experience and significant knowledge of product, process or facility design and construction.Excellent understanding of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry, including pharmaceutical cGMP is strongly preferred.Microsoft OfficeAutoCAD is helpfulProven experience leading teams, groups, or efforts relating to capital projectsExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsSelf-starter, mature, independent and dependable
