We are hiring a PARALEGAL to join the HNI Legal and Compliance team. Reporting to our Associate General Counsel and partnering with a senior paralegal, this position will primarily support our Hearth and Home Technologies business (HHT) with litigation management and contracts management. This is a hybrid position that requires regular onsite presence (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at our Hearth and Home Technologies headquarters in Lakeville, MN. This role will supervising local counsel, managing and monitoring litigation, and supporting the business with commercial contract review and negotiation. Essential Functions: Litigation Management Assist in managing a litigation docket of active product liability matters. Supervise local counsel in a proactive manner to achieve the best result for the company, including managing budgets with outside counsel and reporting on litigation risks internally. Contracts Management Draft, negotiate, finalize and oversee the approval process for all commercial contracts, agreements, amendments, and non-disclosure agreements, among other types of agreements. Coordinate the review of contract scope and contract appendices in consultation with business colleagues and internal subject matter experts. Coordinate and assemble contract documents for execution. Consistently analyze and mitigate complex contractual risk, while increasing efficiency and consistency in contracting. Necessary Skills and Attributes: Demonstrated experience in commercial litigation (product liability preferred). Excellent legal, analytical, and drafting skills and the ability to communicate effectively with lawyers and non-lawyers. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization. Experience building and managing collaborative relationships with internal and external parties. Adaptability to manage changing priorities and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A high level of integrity, judgment, and a proactive and service-oriented mindset to assist in achieving client goals while complying with all applicable policies, rules, and laws. Education & Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate required. 7+ years of combined experience in the areas of litigation (products liability experience preferred) and/or general commercial law. A minimum 5 years of recent, relevant, and broad litigation experience in a law firm, large in-house setting or equivalent (required).
