Job Overview
Position Schedule: Full-Time
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Payroll team. Our group is responsible for processing US multi-state and Canadian multi-province payrolls and tax remittance while reporting in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner. We partner with HR, Legal, Finance, and others to ensure we're keeping pace with ever changing rules and regulations while providing a high class user experience. Additionally, we collaborate with our Product Teams to move from strategy to execution, designing and enhancing business processes with simplicity and transparency while creating capacity for our business areas to move the business forward.
Payroll Processing (U.S. and Canadian operations)
Processing - Computing wage and overtime earnings, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing adjustments for terminations, leaves of absence, and garnishments, and ultimately finalizing net pay for checks and direct deposits in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and other regulatory statues
Tax & Compliance - Verifying appropriate tax calculations and supporting the preparation and filing of tax reports
Controls - Reviewing automated audit controls, creating and posting payroll journal entries, and reconciling out-of-balance journal entries.
Service - Responding to individual inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns
Other
Process Improvements - Identifying opportunities, recommending design changes, and supporting system testing and execution
Teamwork - Partnering with associates inside and outside of the department to resolve short-term issues and to move the team towards its long-term goals
Development - Supporting an environment which emphasizes a growth mindset, elevating the capabilities of all individuals on the team through self-development and training of other team members

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:

Skills/Requirements
Education/Certification
Degree - College Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred
Experience - At least 3-5 years of Payroll work experience
Certifications (one or more preferred)
U.S. - Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
Canada - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
Technical - Excel skills required; PeopleSoft and time & labor system experience preferred
Other
Problem Solving - Ability to analyze specific payroll situations, collaborate with impacted areas (as applicable), identify relevant issues, and apply appropriate solutions.
Decision Making - Ability to follow established guidelines, protocols, and policies while addressing simple, non-routine and medium risk decisions independently and more complicated issues with the support of the area's leader.
Span of Influence - Although the position does not have supervisory responsibility for any other associates, it requires the ability to handle payroll's broad span of influence which comes with handling confidential compensation information for every associate in the US and Canada.
Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our St. Louis, MO home office location are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
