About QUALITY ASSURANCE SPEC (SHIPBUILDING)

  Summary You will serve as a Welding and Allied Processes Examiner in the Quality Assurance Department, Non-Destructive Testing Group (Code 361) of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair (SUPSHIP), Gulf Coast. Responsibilities You will coordinate SUPSHIP Quality Assurance efforts to assure contractor compliance to the Navy and commercial welding, brazing, and allied processes specifications and standards. You will review and/or approve contractor non-destructive test and welding procedures, perform procedure reviews, conduct independent surveys, provide in-process inspections, and witness contractor welding qualification, testing, and evaluation. You will review and monitor contractor's systems for qualifying personnel, procedures, equipment, and vendors; review contractor's testing procedures and results; and provide on-site technical assistance to SUPSHIP Gulf Coast Project Offices. You will train, test, and certify Navy personnel on non-destructive testing and evaluation programs; maintain qualification and testing records; evaluate personnel performance; and issue periodic compendia of certification status. You will develop, conduct, and review additional internal training programs within your technical, industrial, and professional specialties and areas of expertise. You will develop lesson plans, conduct training, maintain training records, and assess the availability and validity of external training resources. You will act as the Command's primary resource for preparing for ship and craft testing and trials by providing leadership, participation, and technical assistance in the conduct and monitoring of advanced ship systems tests and trials. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying a wide range of quality assurance principles to ensure acceptable performance in the construction, overhaul, maintenance, or repair of ships.
