Description:
The Purchaser will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, and services. The job includes communicating with suppliers, managing logistics and inventories. This position will participate in cross-functional teams to meet production and sales demands.
Negotiate with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
Establish Purchasing Policies and ensure compliance.
Develop new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
Process and solicit quotes.
Work with vendors to expedite or defer orders.
Monitor costs and variances for purchased items.
Work closely with Receiving Department to ensure proper supplies arrived.
Monitor MRP system messages and trouble shoot MRP system issues.
Review forecasts and monitor inventory levels.
Work with product design team to establish order policies for new products.
Act as a liaison to resolve quality issues with vendors.
Trace delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders.
Follow environmental and safety regulations and act in compliance with US laws.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
3-5 years Purchasing experience, previous experience negotiating prices with vendors, working knowledge of an MRP/ERP system, and proficient with Excel.
Experience purchasing within manufacturing highly preferred
