  A Brief OverviewThe Psychologist provides psychological services to patients and families, develops and nurtures clinical services, participates in and leads training activities within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) and Hospital; participates in Department and Hospital committees and initiatives. They may contribute actively to program development and QI activities, serve as an educator, role model and mentor, and participate in local, regional and national professional activities. They may engage in clinical research as appropriate for their role. In some settings, the psychologist may have a matrixed reporting relationship to a physician leader outside the Department.

  What you will doClinical ActivityProvides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to children and families, in inpatient, day hospital, and/or outpatient settings, and communicates with referral sources as indicatedPerforms clinical services at a percent of effort as designated by supervisor.Adheres to DCAPBS productivity standards.In settings where patients are scheduled into appointments, presents an Epic schedule that rolls out, per department/division guidelines, delineating availability and anticipated vacation and conference time. Schedule must include enough openings to cover productivity expectations plus anticipated late cancellations/no shows.Follows all CHOP and DCAPBS policies and procedures regarding clinical and administrative activity associated with providing direct patient care.Assure that professional practice is in accordance with applicable professional and licensing body standardsPractices as an Independent ClinicianAssures that CHOP, DCAPBS, Joint Commission and other regulatory body patient care standards are met.Assures that all CHOP and DCAPBS clinical and billing documentation standards are metAssures that all of the above standards are met through regular and periodic direct observation of clinical activity, chart review and discussion with non-DCAPBS team members.May serve in clinical leadership roles such as:Developing clinical and treatment protocols, peer education programs, and monitoring compliance through direct observation and chart reviewCollaborating with other DCAPBS clinicians to operationalize and grow empirically-based models of care that best serve the needs of patientsActing as a resource and mentor for DCAPBS cliniciansDemonstrating leadership in developing programs and designing/executing QI and/or patient safety initiativesCollaborationCollaborate with DCAPBS and other Department/Division colleagues to assure that patients receive care consistent with patient circumstance and need.Respond to requests for consultation and service in a timely manner.Participates in DCAPBS and CHOP committees in membership and/or leadership capacity Work collaboratively with DCAPBS administration to support patients in being appropriately scheduled.Attends and participates in department/division/institution meetings appropriate for or required by role.TeachingParticipates in education and training within the department's training programs. This may include providing clinical supervision, lectures, and facilitated learning experiencesEstablishes themselves as providing high-quality educational experiences for department traineesContributes to inter-professional training activities and experiencesParticipates in activities of the training facultyEngages in professional activitiesMembership in national professional organizations, for example, American Psychological Association (APA)Active in multiple DCAPBS, CHOP, regional, and national activitiesParticipates in the dissemination of psychological science and/or clinical care at a local, regional or national levelClinical Research (if applicable to role)Conducts research of significant scientific value relevant to their practice specialty.Participates in the design, planning and conduct of psychological research.Collaborates on data analysis and dissemination of findings.Composes/assists in developing publications for peer reviewed, scientific journals.Assists with the submission of applications for grants/contracts for funding of research projects.Responsible for appropriate use of research funds.May provide psychological services, supervision, and consultation within research protocols.OtherDemonstrates commitment to Department/Division and hospitalCompletes all mandatory education requirements, annual PPD testing, flu vaccine and other vaccinations as per CHOP policyMaintain licensure including completion of required continuing educationCollaborates with internal staff to complete CHOP requirements to include but not limited to Medical Staff ApplicationEstablish plans for professional growth with supervisorParticipates in clinical program developmentParticipates in community serviceParticipates in ongoing professional practice evaluations as a clinician and peer reviewer

  Education QualificationsHigh School Diploma / GED RequiredBachelor's Degree RequiredDoctorate Psychology Required

  Experience QualificationsAPA or CPA Accredited internship training Required andCompleted post-doctoral training in child and adolescent focused psychology. Required
