Job Summary
The Hill Lab at the BioFrontiers Institute is seeking a highly motivated Professional Research Assistant or Sr. Professional Research Assistant. Our lab studies the interface between the gut microbiota and the pancreas. We are interested in understanding the lifelong effects of resident microbes (such as bacteria and fungi) on pancreatic health. Specifically, we study how exposures to unique microbes can modulate postnatal pancreatic development, as well as later life pancreatic diseases (diabetes and pancreatic cancer). Our ultimate goal is to develop microbe-derived treatments and preventions for these diseases.
This is a highly collaborative research effort that relies on a combination of in-vivo and in-vitro techniques, including germ-free husbandry of mouse disease models, pancreatic cell-culture systems, and advanced microbiology techniques. This position is ideal for a patient individual with strong communication skills who enjoys working in a dynamic team environment. While the Hill Lab will provide training and mentorship, experience in mouse husbandry (conventional or germ-free) and/or microbiology are highly desired. The Professional Research Assistant/Sr. Professional Research Assistant will work alongside Dr. Hill and other lab members, and will play a pivotal role in supporting the scientific and organizational needs of the lab.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. Occasionally, it will require time outside of normal working hours, such as weekends and holidays.
More information about the Hill Lab is available at www.HillLabMicro.bio (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=4947511&targetURL=http://www.hilllabmicro.bio/)
