Position Summary:
This position is in the Operations department of MPLX Gathering & Processing (G&P) and will report to the VP G&P Head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for setting the strategic direction to continually improve the integrity of Gathering and Processing (G&P) pipeline assets.
Responsible for setting the strategic direction and executing the Pipeline Integrity Management programs that comply with 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195 [Integrity Management Program for gas and hazardous liquid pipelines].
Responsible for the system wide risk management of G&P pipeline assets to minimize potential internal and external corrosion damage and related consequences.
Responsible for leading the Pipeline Compliance Team to provide regulatory oversight and support to operations to ensure safe and compliant pipeline operations in accordance with federal and state pipeline safety laws and regulations.
Serve as a liaison to federal and state pipeline safety regulatory agencies and facilitate pipeline safety inspections, investigations, and audits. Support emergency response related activities for pipeline accidents.
Utilize industry knowledge and best practices to support collaborative efforts of the team to develop and implement strategies for providing compliance support services to regulated pipeline assets.
Develop and execute internal pipeline compliance assurance reviews and support the development of mitigation plans for identified deficiencies.
Ensure department’s timely completion and submittal of required regulatory reports (e.g., pipeline accident reports).
Provide regulatory compliance expertise to stakeholders and other MPC components by researching regulations, interpretations, enforcement cases, and agency guidance to assist in making risk-based business and operational decisions.
Serve as SME for DOT PHMSA rules and regulations for G&P.
Provide oversite to department owned programs such as MPC DOT Drug & Alcohol, Operator Qualification (OQ) plans, Annual Reporting, Control Room Management, Integrity Management, etc.
Cultivate positive relationships with PHMSA directors and inspectors and other state and federal regulatory agencies.
Participate in industry committees and activities, as appropriate.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (i.e. mechanical, chemical, metallurgy) or equivalent technical degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of professional and management experience in PHMSA Compliance and Pipeline Integrity in the Oil and Gas industry is required.
Familiarity with mechanical and pipeline integrity and associated regulatory codes and reliability programs is preferred.
A seasoned leader with a track record of developing teams, creating culture of inclusion, and driving organizational change.

Ability to build, develop, direct, and coordinate the activities of a professional team.
Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and communicate complex regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient computer skills, and ability to write technical reports and procedures.
Ability to work in field and office locations, traversing uneven surfaces, climbing ladders and stairways, and working outside in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time, with occasional more intense travel.
