JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Draws blood from patients and processesspecimens. Performs laboratory/radiology clerk duties as assigned.Required to work alternate shifts, weekends, and holidays. Performsother duties as assigned. Responsibilities Greets patients and performsphlebotomy to collect blood specimens. Identifies and labels specimensaccurately. Accessions specimens, processes specimens and delivers tothe appropriate laboratory section. Performs blood glucose monitoring.Assures appropriate documentation in all aspects of laboratory testingto meet regulatory requirements. Responds to questions from physiciansand nurses regarding laboratory testing. Performs laboratory/radiologyclerk duties to include answering the telephone, releasing lab and x-rayorders form EPIC, and order entry in LIS of orders from non-Mercyphysicians. May be asked to participate in teaching and training. Keepswork area clean and organized. Assures adequate inventory of supplies.Education and Experience High school diploma or general education degree(GED). Prior phlebotomy experience desired. Certification/LicensurePhlebotomy Certification (PBT) or eligible for certification through anaccredited organization required within 90 days. Approved CPR or BLScertification required within 90 days.
