  Our Program began in 2008 and is now a Twice Accredited- Transition to Practice Program.(PTAP)

  Our goal is to help you with your career path and help you learn and transition to becoming the Best RN by surrounding you with a cohort of other Nurse Resident Peers, NRP leaders, Educators, Preceptors, and Well-Educated Nursing Staff that Love our Nurse Residents.....

  VUMC is excited to offer the following Nurse Resident Sign-On Bonuses for the Summer 2024 start dates:

  Vanderbilt University Hospital Adult Acute Care $15,000

  Vanderbilt University Hospital Adult Critical Care $5,000

  Monroe Carell Jr Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Acute Care $5,000

  Monroe Carell Jr Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt Critical Care $15,000

  Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital $10,000

  Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital $10,000

  Ambulatory $10,000

  Relocation Incentive also offered for eligible applicants.

  Loan Repayment Program and Nursing Tuition Assistance Benefits available.

  The program targets the new graduate nurse or the RN with less than 6 months RN work experience upon application- the new graduate nurse that will have successfully taken NCLEX prior to the program start date. The Nurse Residency Program is one year with a 2nd year commitment.

  Accepting BSN or ASN degree.

  *Available dates may vary depending on area hired / successful NCLEX completion

  Posting Dates

  All applicants-January 10 to February 7, 2024-All units.

  After February 7 to April 17, 2024-Additional Unit needs.

  (Vanderbilt employees-January 3 to January 9, 2024.)

  Process:

  Step 1: Enter your Resume, Education, Work history, Unit Selection , and Answer the Pre-Screen Questions. After this is received & reviewed you will receive Part 2 to-Video Record your interview with our provided- Interview Stream link.

  Step 2: Your Application & Video Recorded Interview will then be reviewed and forwarded to our Departments.

  Step 3: Virtual Department Conversation.

  Full-time hours 36-40 hours per week is required during the first year of the Nurse Residency Program.

  This position requires Graduation from an accredited nursing program

  Required: Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation

  Additional Information: Background checks will be performed and must be approved prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information.

  JOB SUMMARY

  Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.

  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.

  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.

  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

  TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with nursing patient assessment and evaluations.

  • Nursing Patient Education (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with patient education.

  • Care Planning (Fundamental Awareness): Establishes realistic personal work goals and objectives. Demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work for own assignments and responsibilities. Prepares and presents clear and accurate status reports on projects and assignments.

  • Evidence-Based Practice (Fundamental Awareness): Recognizes nursing practice is research-based and questions or demonstrates curiosity about the scientific basis of practice.
