The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for managing theindividualized patient care by
promoting and restoring patients\' health through the nursing process;collaborating with
physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical andpsychological
support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assignedteam members. The LPN
is responsible to the Clinical Manager/DON for the assigned Department.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current licensure in good standing in the state of practice, and allother states where
license is held
Evidence of 1 year of nursing experience in specialty within the pasttwo years
Evidence of BLS and all additional required credentials specific tonurse specialty
and as designated by health care organization.
Duties and responsibilities as assigned could include:
Record patients\' medical information and vital signs.
Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions orside effects.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients\'conditions.
Provide health care, first aid, immunizations, or assistance inconvalescence or rehabilitation in locations such as schools, hospitals,or industry.
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan,implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel orsupervise a particular unit.
Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physicalactivity.
Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as healtheducation, disease prevention, or childbirth and develop healthimprovement programs.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients\' responses andconditions.
Conduct specified laboratory tests.
Observe nurses and visit patients to ensure proper nursing care.
Assess the needs of individuals, families, or communities, includingassessment of individuals\' home or work environments, to identifypotential health or safety problems.
Perform administrative or managerial functions, such as takingresponsibility for a unit\'s staff, budget, planning, or long-rangegoals.
Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
Prescribe or recommend drugs, medical devices, or other forms oftreatment, such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or relatedtherapeutic procedures.
Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensurethat stock of supplies is maintained.
Administer local, inhalation, intravenous, or other anesthetics.
Consult with institutions or associations regarding issues or concernsrelevant to the practice and profession of nursing.
