These first-line supervisors effectively guide, assist, and motivate staff to make a difference in the lives of court-adjudicated youth. Our supervisors are willing to roll up their sleeves and actively engage in working directly with the staff to develop effective relationships. Supervisors also work directly with court-adjudicated youth to help address personal problems and provide positive reinforcement to instill proper attitudes and responsible behaviors while responding well in controversial situations and hold others and themselves accountable for actions. This position requires a willingness to work with a diverse population along with a driving desire to make a difference in the lives of youth.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Juvenile Justice Specialist Supervisor, you actively supervise employees involved in providing guidance, instruction, treatment, and specialized services to court-adjudicated youth in a secure or restricted setting. You assign tasks to staff and ensure timely completion of reports. You also participate with staff in providing for the physical care, custody, and supervision of the youths' daily activities that include recreation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, work assignments, and program requirements. In addition, you assist professional staff in implementing treatment plans and reporting youths' progress in attaining goals.
Other duties include communicating with youth about their thought processes, actions, and personal problems to provide insight into responsible behaviors and attitudes; maintain order by verbally and physically intervening with disruptive, emotionally improper, and suicidal youth. In addition, you are trained to use appropriate physical restraint techniques to prevent escapes, control aggressiveness, and maintain a safe, secure or restricted environment is required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.Hours of work: Shift work in a 24/7 operation, weekends and holidays, 8-hour shifts normally consisting of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM with no duty-free lunch, 5-day work week with 2 regular days off.May change based on operational needs.Multiple positions may be filled.The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.Travel and overtime are necessary as needed, both voluntary and mandatory.Must be willing to accept employment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit and commute to this location in Danville, Montour County.FREE PARKINGYou will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year of experience as a Juvenile Justice Specialist (commonwealth title);orThree years of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization;orOne year of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; and an associate's degree in social sciences, counseling, restorative justice, juvenile justice, chil development, behavioral sciences, human services, criminal justice, education, or a closely related field;orAn equivalent combination of experience and training .Special Requirement:All employees must be at least 21 years old at the time of application.Other Requirements:is currently waived for this title.You must be able to perform essential job functions.Legal Requirements:
