Collins Aerospace is looking for an In-Service Engineer, who will be responsible for supporting our proprietary landing gear structure and systems components on live commercial aircraft and at the component level in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service centers. You will provide repair designs and engineering instructions to address in-service issues for equipment "on-wing", “under-wing”, and "off-wing" in order to return those components to an airworthy state and allow a rapid return to service of regional and long-range aircraft. You will collaborate closely with Field Service and Technical Publications. You will lead and participate in forensic investigations of field returned parts and incident and accident investigations as required by the Airworthiness Authorities and Accident Investigation bodies. Please note that only those candidates with a Professional Engineer designation may publicly use the title "Engineer".
This position works Remote.
Onsite on-demand support for meetings and other activities expected.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide in-service engineering support to MRO shops (GRE repairs).
Provide technical support for on wing repairs (ISQ/SCR support).
Provide engineering and technical support for customer interface activities (Technical Steering Committee, Customer Forum, Customer Advisory Board & Industry Steering Committee meetings).
Provide engineering support to Product Support, including development of technical manuals & tasks.
Coordinate in-service communications between Collins and customer technical teams (airframe OEMs and airlines).
Coordinate engineering support activities with Design Engineering, Value Stream Management, Quality & Production, as required to resolve in-service issues and manage fleet impacts.
Lead engineering investigations into components that were damaged or failed in-service and participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations.
Liaise with Design engineering to provide in-service perspectives for proposed design changes.
Manage in-service problem resolution from initial problem report to change incorporation in the fleet.
Provide off-hours (24/7) AOG support on a rotating basis for all landing gear proprietary programs.
Travel up to 10%, domestically and internationally.
Qualifications/ Experience Needed:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.
2+ years' related experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Successful candidate must meet all requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Controlled Goods Directorate (CGD) .
Preferred Qualifications
Aircraft in-service engineering support experience.
Landing gear and related systems experience for support of various aircraft types.
Demonstrated ability to work with the Collins PLM system.
Demonstrated ability to work with CATIA.
Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills in a fast-paced team environment.
Demonstrated understanding of computing tools and programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Comprehension of the operation of aircraft systems (including actuation, extension/retraction, steering, proximity sensing, positional control and feedback)
Comprehension of the design of aircraft system components (including manifolds, actuators, hydraulic valves, hydraulic dressings, electrical harnesses)
Preferred familiarity with Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and /or equivalent FAA / EASA regulations:
