Job Summary
The Advance Practice Provider (APP) works collaboratively with asupervising physician to provide direct clinical care for patients presentingto assigned ambulatory clinic within Denver Public Health. The APP works inclose communication with the unit's multidisciplinary team which includessocial work, care management, medical assistants, nursing, research,pharmacy and others to help coordinate comprehensive care for their patients.This position may assist in the educational training of future providers andst
This position is for an advance practice provider in the Denver Sexual HealthClinic (DSHC)within the Public Health Institute at Denver Health.DSHCprovides testing, management, and prevention of Sexually TransmittedInfections (STIs) and HIVto a diverse patient population including folxwho identify asLGBTQIA+,male, Latin/o/a/x, or are spanishspeaking. A successful candidate for this position will need professionalexperience in STI prevention and management, HIV prevention and provision ofTitle X/family planning services.Lastly, lived experience as a member ofany of the diverse communities of patients we serve is desirable.
Essential Functions:
Delivers superior patient care and encourages increased patient understandingand involvement in care. (10%)Determines and assesses the health status of patients by reviewing records,taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physicalexaminations. (10%)Monitors and evaluates medical condition of patient. (10%)Initiates, performs, or directs other healthcare professionals to performscreenings and diagnostic tests. (10%)Makes decisions regarding treatment changes and refers patient to specializedservices as needed. (10%)Orders and administers appropriate medications within the limits of theappropriate statutory limitations. (10%)Completes required documentation legibly, thoroughly, and in a timelymanner. Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files,and records. (10%)Participates in clinical education of healthcare students as seen fit by thesupervising medical staff. (5%)May be assigned to perform lead work and/or involvement in clinicalcoordination, health station management or responsibility for specialprojects which may encompass protocol development, management planning,scheduling and other administrative tasks as necessary to support the practiceenvironment. (5%)Attends and participates in administrative staff, program, and Departmentmeetings. (5%)Utilizes the principles and practices of effective communication to elicitinformation, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support forvarious programs or policies. (5%)Follows established departmental policies and procedures and adheres to anyquality improvement, safety, environmental and infection controlstandards. (5%)Conducts clinical activities as defined in the privileging documents for thisprovider. (5%)
Education:
Master's Degree Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years Related clinical experience preferred
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles,procedures, and techniques.Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams,formulating assessments, and determining treatment plans for patients.Experience ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of m dications.Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.Ability to prepare accurate documentation and reports.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Proficiency in Microsoft Office...
