Overview of Grady Memorial Hospital: A Premier Public Academic Hospital in Atlanta, GA Grady Memorial Hospital, located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, has continually reinvented itself, since first opening in 1892, to meet the region’s evolving medical needs. In the 1890s, that meant providing the same quality of care for rich and poor, black and white. In the 1920s, it meant performing Georgia¿s first open-heart surgery. In 2013, it meant creating the first neurological surgical suite within a dedicated stroke center to remove blood clots from the brains of stroke victims. Tomorrow, it will be something we can barely imagine. Grady’s physicians, who are on the faculties of Emory and Morehouse medical schools, provide patients with unparalleled care in specialties like cancer, urology, cardiology, neurology and chronic disease as well as the more routine, like family medicine and senior care. The world¿s leading physicians come to Grady to practice, to teach and to save patients whose conditions are beyond the capabilities of other hospitals. To continue setting the pace for medical care in the region, Grady has invested more than $350 million in the last six years to open new facilities, upgrade technology and launch state-of-the-art services. At Grady, we do more than save lives. We give our patients the chance to live them to the fullest. Overview of the Emory Division of Hospital Medicine: Emory University's Division of Hospital Medicine is one of the largest and most pre-eminent academic hospital medicine programs in the nation. With more than 125 faculty physicians and 25 advanced practice providers providing hospital medicine services at seven hospitals in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area, Emory hospitalists account for more than 35,000 admissions a year, and total patient encounters exceed 200,000 annually.

The Emory Division of Hospital Medicine’s mission is providing the highest quality, cost-effective care to hospitalized patients, educating and developing future academic and practice leaders of the health care professions, and advancing hospital care through research in quality improvement and Hospital Medicine. The City of Atlanta, Georgia: Atlanta is a major international city with a metro population of 6 million residents, and is the capital and largest city in the state of Georgia.

Atlanta is the center of Georgia's cultural and social life, offering a diversity of cultural, social, entertainment, shopping and recreational options. Atlanta observes four distinct but mild seasons, enabling its residents to enjoy year around access to the area’s many walking and biking trails, public parks and outdoor sporting and entertainment facilities. Atlanta is a prominent business center that is home to major employers including The Coca-Cola Company, Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, Mercedes-Benz USA, AT&T, Georgia Pacific, and Emory University, and host to professional sports teams in MLB baseball, NFL football, NBA and WNBA basketball, and MLS Soccer. Atlanta's location makes it easy to travel drive a couple of hours on major regional roadways to the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains, or take a half-day road trip to Florida, Georgia and South Carolina beaches. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport provides ready global access.
