Working/Functional TitleHealth Care Asst-Internal Medicine
Position SummaryFunctions as customer service representative both in person and over the phone at Veterinary Medical Center's Internal Medicine and Specialty Services Units; successful candidate will schedule appointments, respond to general department emails, upload medical records and maintain a positive client / patient relationship with our clients and their pets.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in the use word processing and database software, a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience. May require knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems. May require certification as a medical assistant.
Desired QualificationsKnowledge of computer software including Microsoft products, Outlook email and calendar functions, VetStar and Instinct. Critical decision making skills while under stress. Excellent interpersonal skills needed to schedule appointments and interact with clients, veterinarians and staff. Six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting preferred; experience with and knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
