Purchasing Director for local Home Builder. Most have home building or heavy construction purchasing experience.
Job Overview:
The Director of Purchasing will play a critical role in our construction team by managing the procurement process and ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. The successful candidate will collaborate with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong relationships to support the construction projects.
Responsibilities:
Sourcing and Procurement:
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for construction materials and services.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure advantageous agreements.
Supply Chain Management:
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with project managers to ensure timely procurement of materials.
Work closely with logistics to optimize delivery schedules and minimize lead times.
Cost Control:
Analyze pricing proposals and assess cost-effectiveness.
Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality or project timelines.
Vendor Management:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues to ensure reliability.
Compliance:
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent in the construction industry.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and industry suppliers.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in using procurement and inventory management software.

Working Conditions:
