The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

Are you a compassionate and dedicated professional with a passion for guiding individuals toward personal and academic success? Shriver Job Corps is searching for a Counselor to join our team. As a Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing mentorship, support, and guidance to empower young individuals on their journey towards personal and professional growth. Responsible for providing personal/career counseling for students to enhance student employability and to ensure continued enrollment and quantifiable success in the Job Corps program. Identifies and remediates student barriers to success and develops individualized student career educational plans. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.
Responsibilities:
Individual Counseling:
Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions to address the unique needs and challenges of students.
Provide support in areas such as personal development, goal setting, and problem-solving.
Group Facilitation:
Facilitate group counseling sessions to promote peer support, communication skills, and community building.
Develop and implement engaging workshops on topics related to personal growth and well-being.
Academic and Career Guidance:
Assist students in setting academic and career goals, providing guidance on course selection and vocational training opportunities.
Collaborate with academic and vocational staff to support students in achieving their educational and career aspirations.
Crisis Intervention:
Respond to and provide support during crisis situations, collaborating with appropriate staff and resources.
Implement effective intervention strategies to ensure the well-being and safety of students.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and assessments.
Prepare and submit reports on student progress, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (including at least 15 semester hours in Social Services-related instruction) from an accredited school required. A minimum of one-year experience in counseling or related field. Prefer previous Job Corps or related program experience. Must possess a valid in-State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements.
