  Job Summary

  Coordinate the administration of an Educational Talent Search program as outlined in the grants. Be able to work with a diverse student population and work environment.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Plan, organize and supervise the TS academic year and summer components in order to meet and exceed the goals and objectives of the grant.

  This includes the daily management, development and implementation of the activities and services for the academic year and summer component of the program.

  Coordinate the recruitment, selection, retention and maintenance of participants and participant files.

  Serve a caseload of 200 or more participants with academic, college, career, financial aid, and economic literacy services and individual technical assistance to promote high school graduation, college enrollment, and degree attainment.

  Assists with the management of program funds and accounts throughout the academic year and summer program.

  This includes, office supplies, activities, enrichment trips, and staffing. Coordinate the interviewing, hiring, training and monitoring of Program Advisors, Mentors/tutors and student workers.

  Maintain communication with target school administration and faculty, community agencies, parents and participants. This includes setting up recruitment, tutorials and securing transportation for participants.

  Compile and submit program assessments to be used in the end-of-year evaluation and assist the Director in submitting annual reporting documentation (Annual Performance Review) to the U.S. Department of Education as well as submission of grant proposals.

  Monitor monthly Individual Service Plans ( ISP ) activity for each grade level (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th) and Academic Progress Plans ( APP ).

  This includes 6 weeks grade reports, progress reports, and maintaining up to date standardized test scores. Performs other duties as assigned.

  Required Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field and two (2) years of experience in a related area or the equivalent experience.

  Knowledge of student recruitment, guidance and advising practices as well as university admissions and financial aid programs.

  Ability to coordinate and supervise others. Must have excellent verbal and written communication ability and strong computer skills.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Master’s degree in education or other related field.

  Four (4) years of related experience preferred.

  Experience working with a Federal TRIO Program or non-profit agency in the areas of dropout prevention and post-secondary opportunity.

  Personal experience in overcoming academic and/or economic obstacles to graduation preferred. Ability to speak and write Spanish.

  Experience in classroom teaching and tutoring with educationally and economically disadvantaged youth. Formal training or work experience in fields related to improving academic scores on standardized tests, student participation and project retention, promoting postsecondary enrollment, and college persistence rates for low-income and potential first generation college students.

  Grant writing, administration and supervisory skills needed. Knowledge of student recruitment, guidance, and advising practices. Knowledge of college and university admissions and financial aid programs.

  Ability to coordinate and supervise others. Good knowledge of public relations and program recruiting procedures.

  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with target school students, faculty, staff and the public.

  Familiarity with curriculum development and design, instructional methods, testing, and computer assisted instruction. Must have analytical abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills and a thorough knowledge of computer applications.
