  Job Description

  AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer (Dams & Mining) to be based in Denver, Colorado. In this role you will specialize in grading, surface modeling and earthwork design. This is a technical role working on world-class projects with other engineers, designers, and project managers on a variety of projects within the Dams, Mining and Water Resources markets. Candidates can expect a diverse set of project challenges focused on heavy civil grading for large mines and dams.

  The ideal candidate will have a passion for complex interdisciplinary civil design projects, producing custom solutions, mentoring mid-level and junior staff, developing calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.

  The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  Dams: Grading design and surface modeling for earth-fill, rockfill, conventional concrete and RCC embankments, quarries, spillways, outlet works, foundations and drains.

  Mining: Grading design, surface modeling and site development for tailing storage facilities, embankments, seepage ponds, utility corridors, waste rock piles, buttresses, ring dikes, underdrains, closure plans, haul roads and instrumentation monitoring.

  Civil/Site- Site development, access roads, drainage channels, jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional dams, slope stabilization, retaining walls, detention ponds, land development, surface drainage, and stream restoration.

  Extensive experience with Autodesk Civil 3D with an emphasis on complex and advanced surface modeling capabilities.

  Prepare detailed calculation packages for earthwork quantities, reservoir storage capacity, and tailing storage.

  Ability to process a variety of data sources to build surfaces from LiDAR, field survey, breaklines, DEMs, and contours.

  Detailed understanding of coordinate systems and the ability to transform data from one system to another.

  Data management of survey and client data through the project life cycle.

  Generate conceptual layouts/designs and perform calculations/analyses for channels, detention ponds, operating ponds, spillways, rock drains, check dams, and haulage/access/circulation roads.

  Prepare drafts of portions of technical proposals, reports, regulatory agency permits, as well as less complex external and internal documents.

  Prepare reservoir and pond designs including geosynthetic lining, leak detection/collection systems, outlet works, and spillways

  Coordinate and integrate civil design with results from geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical designs.

  Create engineering drawings and visual aids using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  Engage on regional projects with other offices in the region and globally.

  Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.

  Qualifications

  Minimum Requirements

  Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationPreferred Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and 12+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  Strong technical progression within Civil Engineering and Design

  Design experience in mining and dams

  Strong technical progression within civil engineering and design.

  Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards.

  Software experience:

  Civil3d

  Microsoft Excel

  ESRI GIS, Blue Marble Global Mapper or other GIS applications.

  Additional Information

  Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $125,000
