Operating Room is a 12 bed highly skilled unit caring for patients who areconsidered higher acuity and need a wide variety of surgical specialty needsfor the community of Denver, the State of Colorado and surrounding states.The OR provides around the clock staffing 24/7, helping keep minimal callwhile still providing exceptional care. Nurses and certified surgicaltechnicians (CST) are a critical part of the surgical care team,providing compassionate and skilled patient care in general, specialty andtrauma surgeries, including bariatric, ear, nose and throat (ENT),spine and neurosurgery, Genitourinary and Gynecology (GU/GYN)GU/GYN, plastics and hand, gender reassignment, pediatric, oralmaxillofacial, ophthalmology, orthopedics, oncology, urology andvascular surge
Job SummaryThe Charge Nurse, with minimal direction, supervises nursing and supportstaff in an inpatient unit, specialty clinic, or treatment programs invarious patient care settings.
The Charge Nurse, adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA)standards of professional nursing and performance, and the ANA Code ofEthics (2015) to provide care to all patients. Applies criticalthinking, evidence-based policies, procedures, guidelines and competenceto collaborate with the health care team to promote excellence in patientsafety and quality outcomes. Essential Functions:Operations ManagementOversee department/unit for assigned shift employing clinical and managerialskills to care for patients while also providing guidance and leadership toother nurses who are working with patients including but not limited topreparing daily staffing assignments, mentoring staff, evaluatingperformance, facilitating patient flow, admissions, and discharges. (40%)Patient AssessmentAssess the needs of individuals, families and/or communities to identifypotential health or safety problems, Instruct individuals and families onhealth education and disease prevention and after care (20%)Treatment and EvaluationConsult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan,implement and evaluate patient care. Monitor all aspects of patient care,including diet and physical activity, develop and modify patient care plansas indicated by patient's responses and conditions. Prepare patients for,and assist with examinations and treatments (20%)Medication administration, documentation and reassessment (10%)Monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in patient's condition andvital signs (10%)
Education:Associate's Degree Required
Work Experience:1-3 years Professional nursing experience in a patient care setting. Required
Licenses:RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies RequiredBLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association RequiredACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association Required
