DescriptionDEPARTMENT: OLYMPIA Corps - Center of HopePOSITION TITLE: Center of Hope CoordinatorSTATUS: NON-EXEMPT, FTSalary: $25.00 per hourGENERAL STATEMENT:The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, and the goal of all programs is spiritual regeneration of all people.SCOPE OF POSITION:Responsible for overseeing the overall operations and programs of the Center of Hope Shelter, including staff, volunteers, and guests.The Salvation Army Center of Hope (COH) Program provides 24/7 enhanced shelter and related services for adults experiencing homelessness. Participants are typically people who have been identified as high needs adults who are eligible for supportive permanent housing. Many clients have chronic and acute mental illness, active addiction issues, and/or trauma. This is a low-barrier, harm reduction program. Advocates are responsible for providing direct service to the participants, assisting with the goal of moving participants quickly into permanent housing and fostering a team environment among center staff and volunteers.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or GED equivalent required.BA or AA Degree in Social Work preferred.Ability to speak and write the English languageHigh degree of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalismComputer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Publisher, Access and social media platformsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Previous work experience in programs that work with high needs participants.CPR certifiedAt least 2 years of case management experience preferred.Working Conditions:This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance. Working conditions may include interruptions with angry persons, and exposure to computers and digital touchscreen displays.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervise Center of Hope Staff and volunteers.Develop and maintain partnerships within the community and serve as the liaison between partnering agencies utilizing the facilities for meals and beds for their clients.Assist the Center Support Lead with weekly staff scheduling and coordination.Conduct intake of all new guests.Lead caseworker for Veterans, Senior and Vulnerable guests.Case management, to include assess current situation, assess needs and strengths, win trust and confidence, interview motivationally, develop realistic time-oriented goals, solicit and document buy-in from guests on those goals, follow up to track progress, celebrate successes, revise goals where not The end result is to help guests establish and achieve goals to overcome barriers that prevent them from finding permanent housing.Provide material assistance, information and referrals to guests.Review and resolve all incident reports with Center Support Lead.Review supplies inventory report monthly to forecast supplies needed.Ensure that guest list is accurate and complete.Review monthly statistics reports.Report any cases of suspected abuse or injury immediately to corps officer.Report any needed repairs or supply requests to the corps officer.Customer service mindsetEnforce building and program rules and policy.General knowledge of business protocolsPerform other functions and duties as requested by the corps officer.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Experience and/or strong interest in community outreach, organization, and community capacity development, including working on communityMust have an interest and ability to work with people and clients of diverse racial, ethnic, and so
