  The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (SNAP-Ed) Nutritionist will primarily be responsible for the delivery of established SNAP-Ed public education programming to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among families and individuals encompassing all age groups throughout Livingston County.

  This is a 1.0 FTE grant-funded position. Funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed) program is through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Office of Temporary Disability and Assistance (OTDA).

  Required Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree. Associate degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community and Behavioral Health, Health Education and/or Public Health, Nursing, or related field plus 2 years transferable program/functional experience may substitute.

  Experience relevant to the role of the position.

  Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.

  Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.

  Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.

  Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

  Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.

  Experience with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to host meetings or classes via Zoom.

  Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.

  Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.

  Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, requirements, and priorities to complete work in a timely manner and within established deadlines.

  Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons to target audiences; one-on-one or group, in-person or online.

  Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation.   Preferred Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community and Behavioral Health, Health Education and/or Public Health, Nursing, or related field preferred

  Registered Dietitian preferred.

  Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in Spanish preferred; some degree of proficiency in Spanish will also be considered.

  Familiarity with the community in which the work will take place and ability to utilize program resources within the community.

  Familiarity with purchasing and preparing foods, utilizing business expense accounts, and planning and working within an annual program budget.

  Familiarity with reviewing and following recipes; assures compliance to federal and state guidelines.

  Ability to plan and organize personal work responsibilities according to priorities developed with the immediate supervisor.

  Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  Program Responsibilities:

  Program Delivery – 75 %

  Utilize existing program materials and educational framework to implement the teaching of the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the SNAP-Ed Program.

  Deliver high quality programming to individuals and groups utilizing existing SNAP-Ed program materials and resources.

  Under the direction and oversight of the Supervisor, occasionally apply established subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans as identified.

  Under the direction and oversight of the Supervisor, adapt already established curriculum and materials as needed to meet established program objectives.

  Implement already-established SNAP-Ed educational programing and program activities in support of other nutrition programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established plan of work.

  Assist in providing existing information to bring awareness to the public in the form of impact statements, articles for progress/annual reports, and news releases, etc.

  Provide SNAP-Ed educational programs via mass media.

  Work to foster acceptance of the SNAP-Ed Program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.

  Assist in multi-association team efforts through joint planning and implementation of multi-disciplinary programs and program activities to deliver the SNAP-Ed Program.

  Serve as a subject-matter resource in the area of Nutrition to staff and participants, community organizations and the general public.

  Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire association and nutrition program staff to achieve SNAP-Ed/Nutrition grant goals as well as overall association goals.

  Represent CCE before the public, participants, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery.

  Program Evaluation – 5 %

  Implement program evaluation as designed.

  Interact with program participants, advisory committees, Cornell program specialists and faculty, county, and community leaders to obtain evaluation data for programs.

  Assist in the process of analyzing collected program data for reporting and program improvement purposes using grant specific and CCE established policy, procedure, and methods.

  Assist with making recommendations for improvement/changes to strengthen and improve programmatic offerings.

  Communicate evaluation results and findings to constituents as appropriate.

  Administrative Responsibilities:

  Direction – 5 %

  Provide input in planning the structure of delivering educational SNAP-Ed programming via various methods.

  Provide input to assist supervisor with planning program budget and needs.

  Assist in the planning and promotion of public events and programs including, but not limited to, assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs.

  Assist in identifying target audiences within county area.

  Management – 5 %

  Assist in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e. program supplies and materials).Coordination/Operation – 5 %

  Organize and coordinate SNAP-Ed program activities (i.e. food demonstrations, direct lessons to adults and youth, etc.) to support delivery of established program goals.

  Utilize existing program materials and educational framework to implement the recruitment of the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the SNAP-Ed Program.

  Submit accurate program related expense receipts as required.

  Coordinate identified administrative aspects of the SNAP-Ed Program including, but not limited to: preparing correspondence, maintaining files, maintaining participant records, etc. ensuring confidentiality of all information.

  Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials.

  Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.

  Assist in utilizing effective marketing strategies in the promotion of SNAP-Ed programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, multi-media efforts and the environmental change initiative in collaboration with other nutritionists.

  Maintain records, complete reports, accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required for the program evaluation process.

  Maintain confidentiality of all information and data collected, accessed and/or maintained.

  Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.

  Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested.

  This position requires the transport of self and/or program materials/resources in performing position responsibilities.

  Professional Improvement – 5%

  In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.

  Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

  Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions.

  Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.

  Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.

  Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

  Position Details

  This is a full time (37.5 h/week) non-exempt position. Compensation paid at the rate of $24.30 - $26.71 per hour. Excellent benefits, based on eligibility, including:
