  The Opportunity

  The Business Process Owner Senior is responsible for the creation and sustainment activities for the processes completed by the credit card operations team. The position requires collaboration between various business partners including but not limited to Product, Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Quality Assurance to ensure credit card processes are crafted and executed in accordance with regulatory commitments and member satisfaction expectations.

  Each Business Process Owner is responsible for understanding the inherent operational and compliance risks associated with their assigned processes while identifying controls that result in reduced residual risk. Tasks of the Business Process Owner include process mapping, risk and control identification, procedure creation and periodic reviews, work item creation and periodic reviews, participation in product and operations strategy sessions, and training of credit card operations team members.

  As Business Process Owner, plans, directs, and coordinates activities for complex processes, including problem definition, evaluation of requirements, design, testing, and implementation of business processes. Understands the process operating objectives, business rules, performance requirements, risks, and controls and interactions between dependent processes to minimize failures, eliminate redundancies, and control process performance necessary to achieve efficient, effective design and execution of the process. Supports alignment of process to overall experience strategy and vision.

  This job profile is designated as a Sensitive Position. Sensitive Positions are those positions in which individuals have the authority and ability to conduct in-scope activities (movement of USAA or Member funds) as defined within the Enterprise Sensitive Positions Mandatory Time-Away Compliance Policy. Employees in Sensitive Positions are required to fulfill a Mandatory Time-Away (MTA) requirement of 10 consecutive business days each calendar year.

  We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  What you'll do:

  Develops and implements strategic customer specific business process program plans that align with enterprise strategy and influence appropriate roadmap(s).

  Applies expert knowledge of the business and leads the alignment and development of business deliverable processes and capabilities to materially change and improve business performance.

  Serves as functional expert bringing varied perspective to leverage multiple ways of thinking while developing end-user focused process solution

  Handles the performance of processes by developing control limits, monitoring key performance indicators and advising stakeholders of any deficiencies, improvements, operational risks issues, etc. and drives collaborative efforts to ensure process delivers against requirements

  Handles business process risks by using established methodologies and exercising control plans to ensure alignment with business unit specific requirements, process requirements, and business needs. Identifies business unit and business process risks across all activities.

  Develops communication plans for customers and internal collaborators.

  Ensures alignment between internal collaborators and customers across all business process projects and services using proactive communication and engagement strategies.

  Uses reporting, data, and analytics to measure process and project performance, deliver process operational efficiencies, and advise key collaborators.

  Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

  What you have:

  Bachelor’s degree; OR 4+ years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  6+ years business process execution/knowledge/experience, consulting, and/or process engineering/optimization.

  Experience in successfully applying quality management, process improvement, and problem-solving tools and methodologies.

  Experience in implementing and sustaining change/improvements (change champion).

  Hands on experience with Process Mapping and Modeling and crafting and validating process documentation.

  Experience in the application of process management standards and policies, and knowledge of applicable regulations and risk management practices.

  Demonstrated experience with Lean, Business Process Management, or similar methodology.

  Demonstrated experience with using various systems to collect and analyze data.

  Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable guidance, to include: TILA/REG Z, REG E, REG F, REG B, REG CC, UDAAP/UDAP, FCRA, BSA/AML, SCRA/MLA, OCC Heightened Standards.

  What sets you apart:

  Credit Card products and operations process experience.

  Experience identifying and implementing automated process improvement solutions.

  Strong attention to detail, deadlines with a focus on effective and succinct communication to peers and business partners through various media including email and PowerPoint (for example).

  Understanding of risk management principles, processes including process risk assessment, control design and delivery, performance reporting, and linkage to key risk indicators and risk statements.

  Experience supporting issue management actions including action plan ownership.

  Familiarity with Agile Project Management methodology.

  US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

  What we offer:

  Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $89,990 - $172,000 .

  Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
