The Body and Fuel Division, within the Illinois Tool Work (ITW) Automotive segment, drives profitability by leveraging its innovative solutions and application engineering. The Accounting Manager will drive effective and accurate financial processes for the Automotive Body and Fuel division, adhering to the ITW policies, controls, and GAAP. Support the Controller with forecasting, reporting and analysis needs. Understand and champion ITW business philosophies for accounting and reporting activities. Lead the financial analysis and forecasting processes. Manage the accounting personnel and support their responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of business and financial information in compliance with ITW policies and US GAAP. Develop and maintain financial reporting processes that exceed internal and external audit requirements. Ensure documentation and monitoring of internal controls in accordance with ITW policies.
Performs detailed analysis on accounting information monitoring records completeness and pertinence while identifying potential problems, defines and implements corrective actions, and follows up to ensure data is complete and correct.
Coordinate monthly close with others to ensure timely preparation and issuance of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Responsible for timely entering of monthly and quarterly Financials, and Tax Kit into ITW Corporate reporting software.
Performs and reviews monthly internal controls, account reconciliations, cost function, bank reconciliation, Intercompany payment and other reconciliations.
Assist controller in internal or external audit.
Supports the controller in preparation of Quarterly Reviews, Long-Range Plan and Annual Plan and business modeling and analysis.
Performs duties as Procurement Card Coordinator (issue, cancel cards, adjust credit limits); answers questions, conducts training.
Business Partner to all leadership members about finance related topics.
Coaching, development and performance reviews for Accounting staff.
Responsible for the continuous process improvements (toolbox) and evaluating opportunities to further enhance the accounting function.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance, required; MBA and/or CPA, strongly preferred
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
Demonstrated experience (at least 3 years) managing a direct staff of accounting professionals
An intelligent professional with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills who can relate to all people at all levels.
Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
Demonstrated accountability for results and understanding of the financial impact of decisions
Excellent knowledge of ERP and BI systems, Microsoft Office software
