POSITION SUMMARY
Substitute Administrators are valued members of the Portland Public Schools community who play an integral role in supporting the students and school communities of Portland Public Schools every day. Working as a Substitute Administrator with Portland Public Schools requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability, as Substitute Administrators are eligible to work throughout the district in any school with a flexible schedule on an as-needed basis.
Substitute Administrators provide instructional leadership for an Elementary, Middle, PK-8, or High School campus under the supervision of a Senior Director while the regular full time Administrator (Principal or Vice Principal) is unavailable. As a Substitute Administrator you will take on the roles and responsibilities of the full time administrator you are covering for, including any evening school events and other duties the full time administrator would typically participate in.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Manage operational, technical, and school activities in the absence of the administratorEnsure compliance with PPS procedures, policies and state and federal requirementsSupervise or delegate all school operations as appropriate, including daily school activitiesSupervise and support professional educators in strengthening their instructional practicesFoster a culture of high expectation, providing every student with equitable access to high quality and culturally relevant instructionSupport and implement the District's Racial Educational Equity PolicyCreate a community of continuous learning for all staff and studentsPromote a positive, safe and conducive climate for learning; create a welcoming environment that reflects and supports the racial and ethnic diversity of the student population and communities served; communicate effectively with students, staff and parentsActively engage and advocate for historically underserved families of color, including those whose first language may not be English, as essential partners in their student's education, school planning and decision-makingContribute to identified measurable goals for student growth; align with PPS Graduate Portrait, Racial Equity and Social Justice FrameworkArticulate the school's vision to the community and solicit its support in accomplishing the mission; use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Active Oregon Administrator License issued from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC)Applicant must have been employed as an Administrator at Portland Public SchoolsApplicant must have retired from Portland Public Schools
PAY RATE
$70.26/hour
