About Privacy Counsel

  You will be a part of our global legal team that works cross-functionally to help achieve Asana’s ambitious mission of enabling the world’s teams to work together effortlessly. We’re a tight-knit, collaborative group responsible for supporting many teams throughout the organization to ensure they have the resources they need to be successful while likewise protecting Asana’s core values and interests. We run ideas past each other, we problem-solve together, we partner with other groups to navigate them through challenging issues, and we’re growing our team.

  Specifically, we’re looking for a Dublin-based Privacy Counsel to join our global privacy team. This role requires an attorney with a passion for global privacy laws.  This is a great opportunity to work closely with other business and technical stakeholders to further build out Asana’s privacy team and help scale a global privacy program in a mission-driven company. We are looking for a team player who brings a thoughtful, pragmatic mindset to solving problems. This role reports to Asana’s Head of Global Privacy.

  This role is based in our Dublin office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Along with most Asanas, you’ll work from this office in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you're interviewing for this role, your Talent Acquisition Partner will share more about the in-office requirements. 

  What you’ll achieve

  Provide clear and practical advice to various teams throughout Asana on privacy and data protection laws, privacy-by-design, and data governance Partner with our commercial legal and sales teams in EMEA on privacy and data protection matters, such as negotiation of DPAs and answering complex customer questions Develop and enhance our customer-facing documentation around privacy, data protection, and trust Keep up to date with new data protection regulations and regimes, including but not limited to GDPR, LGPD, EU AI Act, and data transfer mechanisms Conduct DPIAs, privacy assessments, legitimate interest assessments, and others on internal data processing activities and third-party vendors Be an ambassador and evangelist for privacy at Asana by delivering training and building out documentation and other programming Support global incident response and mature documentation and procedures Help Asana grow globally by supporting global privacy, data protection, and data governance initiatives About you

  Admitted to practice law in Europe 6+ years of experience working in privacy either in-house at a technology company and/or at a law firm counseling companies on privacy issues You love privacy-related work and view protecting privacy not only as a compliance obligation but also as the right thing to do Deep knowledge of GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and familiarity with other global privacy laws Strong collaboration and communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with non-lawyers across the company  Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability both to assess and communicate risks to business partners in a clear, actionable fashion to facilitate compliance programs that grow with the business Track record of taking initiative, having the ability to work independently, handle multiple projects with competing deadlines, and ability to thrive in ambiguity A strategic mindset focused on maturing global processes and the ability to execute tactically At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission.   What we’ll offer

  Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit. 

  For this role, the estimated base salary range is between €138,000-€176,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

  In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
