We are recruiting a Senior Hydrogeologist who will be a part of theGroundwater and Geochemistry Group (GGG). The GGG is tasked withcharacterizing and developing compliance strategies for former uranium millsthat operated in the 1950s and 1960s throughout the southwest. As part thiseffort, the Senior Hydrogeologist will develop field characterizationprograms, undertake groundwater evaluations and perform numerical modeling.
The GGG embraces innovation and cutting-edge methodologies and technologiesleading to the GGG becoming industry leaders in 3-D visualization andevaluation, geochemical assessment, and groundwater flow and reactivetransport modeling. Staff development is a GGG priority and is accomplishedthrough mentoring and increasingly challenging technical assignments;conference attendance and journal publications are encouraged. The culturewithin the GGG promotes work-life balance, where member needs andaccomplishments from their personal and professional lives are stronglyvalued.
In addition to working with the Groundwater and Geochemistry Group, theSenior Hydrogeologist position will have the opportunity to participate in theLM Applied Studies and Technology (AS&T) program. AS&T studies aredesigned to support the LM mission through improved understanding of processesthat affect remedy protectiveness and performance, including evaluation andapplication of advancements in technology. Ongoing AS&T studies includelong-term disposal cell cover performance, plume persistence, enhancednatural attenuation, system operations and analysis at remote sites, datamining and project visualization and educational collaborations. AS&Tstudies are not limited to the ongoing studies; any study related to LM'smission will be considered for inclusion in the program.
This position is required to travel 10% of the time.
