Position Summary
The Campus Safety Officer position is assigned to Patrol Operations withinCampus Safety. Campus Safety Officers are the primary safety and securitypersonnel for the University. Their duties include, but are not limitedto, patrol of the campus and its buildings and assisting the campuscommunity with a wide variety of problems and concerns. We will be fillingmultiple positions from this posting.
Essential Functions
Patrols assigned areas, physically inspecting buildings and checkingdoors, windows, entries and exits for safety.Responds to fire alarms.Communicates with and assists fire, police Divisions and other publicsafety entities.Provides initial response to emergencies and criminal incidents onUniversity property; completes initial investigations to determinedisposition.Provides general assistance to the campus community and visitors.Apprehends violators of city, state and federal laws and regulations thatmay have occurred on or involved university property.Operates University patrol vehicles and radio equipment as assigned.Completes written reports and maintains logs relating to activity on campus.Assigned to duties as the Division dispatcher, to include handlingincoming calls for service, monitoring fire and intrusion alarms,dispatching other officers to calls for service and monitoring CCTV systemsfor locations on campus.Adheres to all Division and University policies, procedures,directives, rules and regulations.Participates in the interview panel during the Divisions selection andhiring process when requested by Senior Management.Participates in the Divisions recruitment and accreditation efforts.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hiring.
Must possess a High School diploma or GED.Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado drivers license and be insurableunder University guidelines; or, obtain a valid Colorado drivers licensewithin the required time frame.Must successfully pass a written job related skills examination.Must pass a complete background check to include criminal, motor vehiclereport and verification of employment and education.Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and human performanceevaluation administered by a University approved physician.Employment Requirements Post Hire
Must have the ability to obtain or possess a City and County of DenverSecurity Guard License within 3 weeks of hire.
Must successfully complete initial certification in Basic FirstAid/CPR/AED, Defensive Driving, and TPR (Threat PatternRecognition) Use of Force Basic within 3 weeks of hire.M st successfully maintain re-certifications in Basic First Aid/CPR/AEDand TPR to ensure the maintenance of job related skills.Must successfully complete an annual physical assessment test as part of TPRre-certification to ensure the maintenance of job related physical fitnessstandards.Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent credit hours with an emphasis in CriminalJustice, Police Science, or Security Management; or 6+ months relatedlaw enforcement/Campus Safety experience and/or training; or equivalentcombination of education and experience.Working Environment
As field-based personnel, Campus Safety Officers routinely work outside inall weather conditions. This position may be assigned to any shift orcombination of shifts as is deemed necessary by the Captain/Sergeant ormembers of the Divisions senior management group. Campus Safety Officers areconsidered essential personnel and may be called upon to work additional hoursto cover shifts or provide special event coverage.
