JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The University of Wisconsin-MadisonDivision of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking a DigitalAccessibility Architect with an enthusiasm for digital accessibility,usability, and inclusive design. The architect will report to theDigital Accessibility Program Manager, within the Center for UserExperience. Daily responsibilities will include performingdigital accessibility evaluations of digital tools and resources,maintaining a knowledge base of accessibility barriers and detailedalternative access for users, and consultations with campus partners andcustomers on accessibility needs and questions. Education, training, andproduction of guide materials will be a component of this role. Thisindividual will participate during development and procurement ofdigital tools and resources to evaluate and validate conformance todigital accessibility standards. Following priorities set by the DigitalAccessibility Program Manager, this role will assist in promotingdigital accessibility, provide education and guidance, and supportdevelopment of plans for equal access to the digital ecosystem at theUniversity. Responsibilities: Assists with research and design of usableand accessible systems, services, and content to support user needs,meet project goals, and advance institutional priorities. Assists intraining and outreach efforts to advance the institutional capacity foruser-centered practices. 10% Conducts research with users to understandcontext and needs, utilizing methods such as ethnographic/fieldresearch, interviews, usability testing, and surveys 10% Analyzes andsynthesizes research data and metrics to inform policy, service,content, and interaction design 25% Assists in the design and executionof training, facilitation, and outreach materials, and researches anddesigns best practices to promote the use of user-centered, accessiblepractices at the institution 35% Assists in advising variousstakeholders on user-centered and accessible practices 20% Performstechnical digital accessibility reviews on digital resources and tools***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Requiredqualifications: - Technical experience working in the field of digitalaccessibility, with ability to perform evaluations on digital resourcesand tools developed or procured for use at the University, ensuringcompliance with digital accessibility guidelines - Thoroughunderstanding of WCAG 2.1 standards, with ability to consult with andprovide support for customers about digital accessibility and usabilitybest practices during design, content creation, procurement, ordevelopment process - Professional experience creating documentation fordigital accessibility barriers reported for digital assets and/ortools - Professional experience creating training materials,presentations, and/or guides for sharing digital accessibility standardsand best practices - Familiarity with assistive technology, experienceusing tools used to evaluate digital resources, and knowledge of methodsfor staying current on digital accessibility standards In addition torequired qualifications, the most qualified candidates may also have thefollowing preferred qualification: - Experience working in highereducation - Experience remediating documents and/or web sites withaccessibility barriers ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: ApplyOnline:https://jobs.wisc.edu/jobs/digital-accessibility-architect-madison-wisconsin-united-states
