  Entry-Level Civil Engineer

  POWER Engineers is currently seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our team supporting the electrical utility and renewable energy service areas. Our department specializes in high-performing projects with a focus on the future. Our goal is to deliver excellent projects together with a positive experience for our clients and our communities alike.

  This position will be based in our Rocky Mount, VA office with the ability to work in a hybrid setting, a combination of home and office, or remotely from the Roanoke area. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.

  Roles and Responsibilities

  In this role you will be assisting senior designers and engineers in all aspects of civil engineering and site design. Typical projects include utilities and municipal infrastructure and sitework for buildings and facilities. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, producing construction drawings, specifications, estimates, bills of material and other engineering design deliverables.

  Candidates for this position should have strong spatial reasoning skills, the ability to work in design teams, be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take initiative to learn new skills, and work with layouts in a 3D environment. Further, the candidate should be willing and able to learn new software packages efficiently and retain and apply on-the-job training.

  Required Education/Experience

  · Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) degree from an accredited university

  · Engineer- In-Training (EIT) registration

  · Basic understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software with emphasis on AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation

  · Strong command of the English language

  · Excellent written and oral communication skills

  · Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

  · Must have an interest in consulting engineering, civil/site design, and the utility industry

  Desired Education/Experience

  · Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher

  · AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation InRoads/OpenRoads experience

  · Previous engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil engineering, is desirable

  · Knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure, site layout, grading and drainage, construction drawings and specifications is beneficial
