About School Behaviorist

  JOB SUMMARY

  Behaviorists are primarily team leaders, rather than instructors. Their role is to help IEP teams create plans to manage behaviors that affect a student’s learning; they work with the team to provide a comprehensive approach to behavior management that includes evaluation, data collection, interventions, and regular monitoring.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  Attend to administrative tasks. The Behaviorist consults with Case Managers on several cases at a variety of districts. They must be highly organized and spend their office time scheduling and verifying appointments, returning phone calls, and attending meetings with other support providers.

  Schedule and attend IEP meetings for caseload students. In these meetings, the behaviorist helps the team develop behavioral goals and benchmarks and assists them in writing a clear behavioral plan that uses data collected during evaluations to suggest replacement behaviors.

  Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding human resources subject areas and makes recommendations for changes when necessary.

  Functions as an ambassador for The Fedcap Group.

  Contributes to organization success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team results.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Job qualifications are stated in the Essential Functions of the job description. An employee must be able to accomplish the Essential Functions to be competent in the job. Other special requirements are noted below.

  Required Education and Job Experience

  Master’s degree.

  Professional licenses include Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), both of which require passing a qualifying examination.

  Three or more years of experience in working in a school for students with disabilities and at least 2 of which were dealing with classifications of Emotional Regulation Impairment (ERI) or Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities.

  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  Build strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  Work cooperatively with others on a team.

  Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, integrity, and ethical practice.

  Analyze, make decisions, and resolve situations/problems effectively within the scope of responsibilities.

  Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

  Be patient and sensitive to individuals with disabilities.

  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and other related software.

  Other

  Demonstrable knowledge of and commitment to the mission, vision and goals of The Fedcap Group and execution of relevant policies and procedures.

  Work Conditions

  Work is typically performed in an office environment but may be required to perform job duties outside of the office setting.

  Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  Normal business hours. At times, must be willing to work beyond normal business hours as needed by operational needs and event schedules.

  Travel

  Out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required as needed to support the objectives of business units within The Fedcap Group portfolio.
