Description Position Summary: Alerus is a fast-paced, growing organization with a project management office. Simply stated, the goal of project management is to complete the right projects faster by using resources efficiently. The Project Manager will develop a collaborative working relationship with leaders in business units such as IT, Administration, Banking, and Wealth Management. In addition, the Project Manager will work closely with resources to understand and analyze business needs for project approval by the Executive Project Committee. The Project Manager will lead projects to completion using Alerus project management processes and ensure communication on individual projects as well as their entire portfolio. Essential Responsibilities: Job Function 1: Individual Project Management - 40% Understand and assist with the development of the scope document and communicate the expectations of all the resources working on the project. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Coach, mentor, motivate and interact with project resources and vendors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work. Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. Build and maintain the project plan using project management tools, templates, and processes. Regularly communicate between project meetings to stay abreast of resource progress and project status. Coordinate and share meeting content in the form of minutes. Manage budget of the project from request to completion, including obtaining the necessary approvals and coding of payments. Communicate to project team, project director, project sponsor, and management of project status and risks. Job Function 2: Overall Project Management - 30% Understand, support, and engage in the Alerus project management process and phases. Provide guidance on how to utilize project management in accomplishing strategic objectives. Lead and motivate cross-functional and/or multi-site teams for medium to large projects. Deliver projects on time and on budget. Effectively communicate to project team, project director, project sponsor, and management of project status and risks. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Help manage expectations of users and management through communication. Job Function 3: Business Analyst - 30% Identify customer and business processes that could be improved to meet company strategic objectives. Analyze the impact of change to the company, not just a single business unit. Illustrate impact of a process or project improvement in order to determine the impact of the change and priority within the company. Partner with business users to fully understand the needs and requirements. Assist business users, project managers and other leaders to optimize the scope, benefits and risks of proposed projects. Assist in the definition of roll out, training and ongoing support. Position Requirements: Qualifications: Undergraduate degree, preferably in business administration discipline, project management, and/or IT. 2+ years of experience in business analysis and project management, experience with financial or professional services industries preferred. Interviewing and listening skills to elicit detailed requirements. Analytical skills for transforming defined business needs into software requirements. Verbal and written communication skills, ability to create effective requirements documents and review them with key project stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization. Understanding of current technologies and ability to learn new te hnologies quickly. Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to take initiative when needed. Ability to travel to any Alerus Financial location to build relationships, provide training and/or support. Personal Characteristics: Familiar with a variety of project management concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Ability to influence and lead others. Performs a variety of tasks with minimal direction. Excellent interpersonal skills, team oriented and a collaborative work style. Physical Demands - Must be met with or without a reasonable accommodation: Extended periods of time sitting at a desk and using office equipment. Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours per day. Extended time is spent reviewing physical and electronic documents. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
