GENERALDESCRIPTIONThe Crime Victims Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Crime Victims Compensation Program (CVC) Call Center to provide administrative support by answering a multi-line phone, handling correspondence and documents, and maintaining filingsystems.Thisposition may be eligible for telework up to three days per week once trained. Employees must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule, and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular businesshours.The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. OAG employees enjoy excellent benefits (https://ers.texas.gov/Benefits-at-a-Glance) along with tremendous opportunities to do important work at a large, dynamic state agency making a positive difference in the lives ofTexans.ESSENTIAL POSITIONFUNCTIONSAnswers a multi-line phone and utilizes the claims management system to respond to routine and special inquiries from callers regarding claim status, payment status, and general information regarding the CVC programRespond to requests from medical providers, victims, claimants, and advocates including application and bill status, document verification, and general program/benefits informationReviews medical documents ensuring the forms are complete and accurate for compliance with agency policies and procedures and with state and federal statutesPerforms data entry and verification of incoming medical bills into the claims management systemGather, analyze, and cross reference information to obtain correct addresses for providers, victims, and claimantsPrepares and distributes routine and special correspondence, report, forms, and documentsPerforms related work as assignedMaintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functionsAttends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work scheduleEnsures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected informationComplies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrityQualifications:MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from high school or equivalentExperience:Two years of full-time high volume call center experience, administrative support, claim processing, clerical, customer service, general office, or closely related experience; may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university.Knowledge of general office practices and administrative proceduresSkill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlinesSkill in effective oral and written communicationSkill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision makingAbility to receive and respond positively to constructive feedbackAbility to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environmentAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travelAbility to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSAAbility to lift and relocate 30 lbs.Ability to travel (includin overnight travel)up to 5%PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience: Experience working with a state agency, in a crime victims, medical billing, or customer-service related fieldSkills: Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office SuiteOther Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak SpanishTO APPLYTo apply for a job with the OAG, electronic applications can be submitted through either CAPPS Recruit or Work in Texas.
