Summary: The MS State Department Health, Office of Preventive Health is seeking to fill three (3) Nurse III (Preventive Health Nurse) vacancies. The Preventive Health Nurse will promote population health by leading clinical approaches for community-based health-behavior change programs from planning to evaluation for diverse populations in a variety of settings within their assigned public health region. Work performed will include monitoring health trends and identifying health risk factors unique to specific communities. Nurses will be responsible for providing direct preventative clinical services, assessing the health status of individuals, families, and populations, and providing nurse case management and health education. Utilizing a health systems approach to community health, Nurses will serve as a resource for evidence-based, population-focused practice, to educate individuals, families, communities, and members of the health care team about the principles of disease prevention and health promotion.
Qualifications: Requires state licensure as a Registered Nurse and 2-4+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications: A Master's Degree in nursing as a Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner. Previous successful community health nursing experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a team is essential.
