JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: As a Medical Assistant II in theDepartment of Orthopaedic Surgery you will facilitate efficient clinicflow by maintaining excellent patient care and customer service byperforming patient care and front desk duties, under the direction ofclinic leadership. Primary Functions Prepare patient exam rooms andequipment and select instruments using aseptic and sterile techniquesEscort patient to exam room, obtain brief history and vital signs.Update medical records for physician review Perform immunizations,injections, venipuncture, urinalysis and other procedures, completingnecessary documentation. When necessary, package specimens to be sent tolab for analysis Assist physician with patient exams and proceduresGreet and register clinic patients. Obtain and/or update registrationinformation and referrals or authorizations as necessary Schedule clinicappointments, ancillary tests and maintain appropriate schedulinginformation Receive and route incoming clinic phone calls to appropriatearea. When necessary, record accurate messages and distribute toappropriate area Clean and stock patient exam rooms Order medicationsand supplies as needed Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Knowledge ofbiology, clinical judgment, medicine, cultural awareness, andconsulting.
