Maintenance and Modernization has an opening for Manufacturing Technicians responsible for performing submarine shipboard and manufacturing work to support delivered ships at the EB West site.The successful candidates must be experienced in naval submarine Maintenance and Modernization activity and be flexible as well as adaptable, working in a team environment.A Manufacturing Technician is a multi-disciplined person that must have one or more skills within the trades. Welders, Electricians, Pipefitters, Shipfitters and Inside / Outside Machinists will be preferred and considered first. Other Manufacturing Technicians such as Crib operators, Carpenters, and Sheetmetal workers may be considered at the discretion of the employer.Candidates shall be experienced in reading blueprints and math skills necessary for establishing or determining ships lines relative to positioning components for installation.Candidates shall be willing to learn new skills and apply them as needed with the appropriate training.QualificationsRequired:This is not an entry level position. EB is looking for skilled manufacturing technicians that can perform the functions with reasonable oversightHigh School Diploma / GED or equivalentExperience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and manufacturing industryAbility to use NAVSEA/SP ships drawings, technical manuals, ship system manuals and various other documents in the performance of this task is a mustMust have the ability to perform the functions of the craft to the proper procedures and policies in a safe mannerMust be able to qualify and maintain Respiratory Protection certificationMust be able to qualify and maintain Fall Arrest Protection certificationMust be able to qualify and maintain Lifting & Handling / Industrial Trucks certificationMust be able to qualify and maintain the EB Heavy Metals Program requirementsSelected candidates must be able to pass a practical exam for position appliedPreferred:Knowledge of SP/SSP's, DIs and SIsMinimum of 1 year working in an industrial marine environmentWelding, NDT, Electrical, RADCON, and QA experience in maritime environmentSkillsSkills:Travel to other shipyards in the continental United States is required. Must be willing to accept extended work assignments. The organization is a traveling teamEmployee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
