Our Journeyman Jig/ID Grinders focus on safely manufacturing components for progressive stamping dies and spare components for a variety of industries including medical, automotive, nuclear, and electrical connectivity. Analyze tasks and establish an appropriate sequence of operationsRead blueprints and job orders for product specifications, number of parts to be ground, material specifications, grinding stock, and due datesCheck supplies to make sure there's enough material to finish each jobSet up and operate various grinding machinesSelect grinding wheel, speeds and feed rates for each operation according to requirements and knowledge of metal properties and abrasivesVerify dimension conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, etc.Check grinder for proper maintenance, preparation (proper wheel and dressing, etc.) before starting each jobGrind component to blueprint specifications and stock allowancesPotential to operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipmentMust meet speed expectations to ensure productivityQualifications:Minimum of 5 years or more of precision grinding experience requiredExperience with any of the following: manual or CNC Jig Grinders, Overbeck, Usach or other ID grinding equipment is preferredWillingness to cross train on different equipmentExcellent blueprint reading, understanding of GD& T, mechanical and math abilitiesCommitment to quality, speed and accuracy, and maximizing acceptable product percentagesAble to work well independently and cooperatively with teamsService attitude toward shop floor employees and customersCommitted to safety, team development, and product and service excellenceAble to comprehend written or verbal proceduresHigh school diploma or GED minimumPrimarily daylight shift, but must be able to work an off-shift as needed, and stand 8-9 hours per dayCompensation & benefits:Penn United Technologies currently employs over 700 people in our employee-owned precision manufacturing company, located about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh in Butler County.
