We are an employee-owned firm with over 12,000 employees, working in 225 locations around the world, pushing open the doors to what's possible each day.Watch Our Story:More and more, our academic clients need to be provided with pathways to differentiate themselves from the competition.They need individuals who can take a fresh look at their strategic goals, long range strategic plans, master plans, space utilization and classroom and lab planning to help develop solutions that will create a sustained, successful future for years to come.We are looking for a Principal-level Campus Planner to both lead and support our higher education campus planning and academic planning projects.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties of the Campus Planner are to lead various types of campus master planning projects.Responsibilities include:Work with clients and project teams to understand the institutions particular mission and strategic plan for the future.Lead client and 'user group' meetings of multiple stakeholders in the academic planning process.Work with project teams and HDR thought leaders to develop campus plans that incorporate various campus planning elements including but not limited to:Land UseAcademic FacilitiesHousing FacilitiesRecreation and Open SpaceCapital Improvements ProgramArchitectural Design GuidelinesFacilities ManagementParticipate in client interviews and work directly with clients to facilitate workshops/sessions.Work directly with our business development and marketing teams to develop pursuit strategies and capture plans for the market, as a whole, and for targeted clients.Represent and share thought leadership with our clients and project teams.Develop visualization communication with staff to convey planning ideas and principles.Embrace HDR's Data Driven Design culture while collaborating directly with our predictive analytics and computational design teams who are supporting academic planning and programming with our clients.Additional duties to include but not limited to:Develop thought leadership that contributes to our strategic positioning with higher education clients.Develop research plans to further ideas on the future or current state of campus planning.Craft white papers and writing articles.Present at conferences.The successful candidate will want to:Dedicate their time to promoting student-centered learning experiences and advancing vision, mission, and institutional goals for our academic clients.Serve as primary point of contact for clients with aptitude for building client trust and relationships.Collaborate with the other ofce leadership to develop, advance, and implement the goals of the Education Sector.Actively network at professional events, extensive community-involvement, attend and speak at conferences.Lead and contribute to the research, ideation, development, and successful implementation of new product and service offerings for clients.Lead interdisciplinary teams that include analysts, strategists, designers, and clients.Collaborate with diverse teams to ideate and evolve solutions.Work with data analysts to design models tha are logically sound, imaginative, and defensible.Ask questions. *LI-SA1QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field.A minimum of 12 years related experience.Extensive knowledge of higher education campuses and campus planning for both public and private campuses.Ability to work effectively with clients and project teams.Experience with early phase marketing, pursuit development and organizing client interface.Ability to meet prospective clients and identify potential projects.Strong organizational, communication, writing and editing skills.Research experience in academia, published research preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
Preferred QualificationsCertification by the American Institute of Certified Planners.
