Terminal Operator

Position Purpose
Assists in the manufacturing of roof coatings and driveway sealers by blending and maintaining appropriate levels of liquid asphalt and solvents at the facility’s tank farms, follows established standard operating procedures with special attention to safety rules and company policies.
Shift Hours: 6pm to 6am with rotating dates. Must have the fliexibility to train on 1st shift (6am to 6pm) for a few weeks.
Key Responsibilities
Follows daily scheduled activities as indicated by supervisor.
Assists in maintaining good housekeeping at his work area and throughout the facility.
Promptly reports any problems or out of the ordinary situations to supervisor.
Follows standard operating procedures, company policies and safety regulations.
Responsible for the daily upkeep of the tank farms and all equipment involved in them.
Responsible for the loading and unloading of road tankers and railcars containing liquid asphalt, solvents or clay slurries.
Responsible for blending liquid asphalt and solvents strictly following standard operating procedure and printed batch sheet.
Responsible for reporting and/or recording inventory movements after each batch.
Follows direction from supervisor and/or QC technician to ensure product meets established quality control standards.
May be required to assist in general labor tasks as needed and indicated by supervisor.
May be required to assist in the training of new personnel on the safe operation of tank farm.
Experience and Skills Requirements
Experience in a factory asphalt environment.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to read and understand policies and training materials.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable, and change priorities and direction as needed.
Must have a positive attitude towards work and the ability to work well as a team member.
After receiving training, employees must be able to show understanding and competency on safety rules and regulations by written or verbal examination.
Ability to understand and follow posted signage throughout the facility.
Clear understanding of lock-out and tag-out procedures.
Must be familiar with the standard operating procedure and operator manual for the safe operation of the equipment.
Clear understanding of Hazard communication policies.
Exhibit a strong problem-solving aptitude.
Working Conditions
Required to have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20.
Employees must be able to hear and speak.
Employees must have a full range of motion to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop or kneel.
Employees must be able to complete repetitive strenuous work under varying climate conditions.
Employees must be able to safely lift up to 70 Lbs.
Employees must be able to stand for extended periods.
Must be able to work in a plant environment with varying levels of temperature and physical requirements.
